English for Speakers of Other Languages - Academic

Academic ESOL offers four levels of English classes for speakers of other languages in four different skill areas: writing, grammar, reading and vocabulary, and oral communication. Students who want to enroll in ESOL classes must take the ESOL Assessment Test. For information regarding this test or about Academic ESOL classes, please email ESOL@austincc.edu, or visit austincc.edu/esol.

For Spring 2024, we will be offering in-person classes at the following campuses: Cypress Creek (CYP), Hays (HYS), Highland (HLC), Round Rock (RRC) and South Austin (SAC). We will also be offering online synchronous classes with virtual live class meetings on the days and times listed. Students must be able to attend virtual class meetings in real time. Students will need a computer, laptop, or tablet, reliable internet access, and a microphone and camera. Online classes may require students to take proctored exams. Contact the department for more information.

Our classes are co-listed with Continuing Education (CE). For more information on how to enroll through CE, please go to our ESOL CE enrollment instructions link at austincc.edu/esol/.  Here is a link to the Continuing Education Schedule.

MATH 1314 College Algebra

Students who intend to move on to MATH 2412 Precalculus should enroll in MATH 1414 College Algebra for Precalculus.  MATH 1314 will not meet the prerequisites for MATH 2412.  Many programs may allow students to use MATH 1332 Contemporary Mathematics or MATH 1342 Elementary Statistics to fulfill their math requirements rather than MATH 1314.  Check the requirements of your program at ACC and at the institution to which you wish to transfer.
