Students who intend to move on to MATH 2412 Precalculus should enroll in MATH 1414 College Algebra for Precalculus. MATH 1314 will not meet the prerequisites for MATH 2412. Many programs may allow students to use MATH 1332 Contemporary Mathematics or MATH 1342 Elementary Statistics to fulfill their math requirements rather than MATH 1314. Check the requirements of your program at ACC and at the institution to which you wish to transfer.

Math Launch is a short course offered through ACC's Continuing Education department, staffed by ACC math instructors. Math Launch is a low cost opportunity for students to review and refresh previously learned math topics, and to reassess with the chance of improving their initial developmental math placement. Developing Mathematical Thinking (MATD 0485) is a course for non-STEM students who will take either MATH 1332 Contemporary Math or MATH 1342 Elementary Statistics. Students will be co-enrolled in NCBM 0222 Math Thinking Foundations. Students who pass MATD 0485 with a C or better will complete TSI requirements in mathematics, but are only eligible to take MATH 1332 or MATH 1342. Students who need to take MATH 1314 College Algebra, MATH 1414 College Algebra for Precalculus or MATH 1324 Math for Business and Economics MUST take MATD 0370 Elementary Algebra or the appropriate level corequisite course including their required college level course. Tests will be taken online. Some tests may require proctoring. Students can access online proctoring on their own computer for free. Online courses eliminate geography as a factor.

Prerequisites: MATH 1324 or MATH 1314 with a C or higher or a satisfactory score on the ALEKS PPL Advanced Math Assessment, https://www.austincc.edu/students/testing-services/advanced-math-assessment. The prerequisites for all mathematics courses are STRICTLY enforced and will be verified by instructors. Students without the prerequisites are subject to withdrawal.
