Emergency Medical Services Professions

ALL EMSP COURSES REQUIRE DEPARTMENTAL APPROVAL PRIOR TO REGISTRATION. 

Prospective EMT student must provide documentation of certain vaccinations, American Heart Association BLS certification and a mandatory online Information Session in order to gain access to the application for that program. 

Prospective Advanced EMT  through Paramedic students must also provide documentation of certain vaccinations, American Heart Association BLS certification, proof of EMT Certification or proof of enrollment in an EMT course and a mandatory online Information Session in order to gain access to the application for that program.

EMSP 1160 Clinical-Emergency Medical Technology/Technician-Basic Clinical

Students registered in EMSP 1160 must also be registered in EMSP 1501 on either the Cypress Creek, Eastview or Hays.  As students apply for the course they must produce for the compliance officer proof of Health Insurance. Students coming into the program are also required to do a drug screening prior to the start of class. Information about the drug screen will be sent once the student is accepted into the class. Please do not register for drug screening until requested to do so by the department.  Students are also required to attend a MANDATORY clinical orientation from 9 am – 1 pm on the first Saturday of the semester at a location to be announced.   

EMSP 1261 Clinical-Emergency Medical Technology/Technician - Paramedic Clinical

EMSP 1261 and 2137 are co-requisite courses and must be taken together. To be eligible for registration students must complete the following: (1) Present an AHA BLS Provider CPR card, (2) proof of current EMS certification (3) verification of TB status (PPD), (4) Health Data Form and (5) proof of Health Insurance. All items must be valid through the end of the clinical semester in order for a student to register. Verification of eligibility is determined by the Clinical Site Coordinator. Students without a current drug screen will be required to complete this screening prior to the start of the class. Information regarding the timing of this screening is sent by the Clinical Site Coordinator. Please do not register for any screening until requested to do so by the department. Additionally, all students registered in EMSP 1261 must attend MANDATORY clinical orientation and skills verification sessions on the Friday prior to the first day of the semester. Any required skills retest will take place on the first Friday of the semester.

EMSP 2137 Emergency Procedures I

EMSP 1261 and 2137 are co-requisite courses and must be taken together. All items must be valid  through the end of the clinical semester in order for a student to register. Verification of eligibility is through the Clinical Coordinator. Also, all students must have a drug screening done prior to the start of the class. Information regarding the timing of the drug screen is sent through the clinical coordinator Antonio Martinez. Please do not register for any screening until requested to do so by the department. Additionally, all students registered in EMSP 1261 must attend MANDATORY clinical orientation and skills verification sessions on the first Friday and Saturday of the semester.
