10 Week Session: May 28 - August 4

CDEC 1311 Educating Young Children

This course requires 16 hours of fieldwork/lab. These fieldwork/lab hours must be completed in person in a licensed or registered early childhood classroom. Students must also be eligible for fieldwork/lab by passing a criminal background check through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, which will be conducted in class at the start of the semester.

This course requires completion of lab experience. During the course of this experience, students will comply with the health and safety protocols of their lab site.  Inability to meet the expectations may impact the student’s successful completion of the lab hours. This may delay the student’s completion of the course. If there are additional questions, please reach out to the department chair rmcgough@austincc.edu

Class will meet virtually at the listed scheduled course times. Students should plan to attend class sessions during the times listed. Tests will also be taken online. Student ACC email and reliable internet are required.

This is a ZTC (Zero Textbook Cost) section. In place of required textbooks, all textbook materials needed for the class will be available online to students free of charge. Students may print copies of the resources but will be responsible for printing costs. Course materials may be Open Educational Resources (OER), see syllabus for specifics.

CDEC 2424 Child Development Associate Training III

64 hours of lab experience required for this course - to be announced in class. Note: Do not purchase course materials until you have spoken with the instructor in class. Prerequisites: Minimum grade of C in CDEC 1417 and CDEC 2422. Students must be currently working directly with a group of young children in the birth-5 years range in a child care setting. If you are a director and interested in CDA, but are not currently working with a group of young children, please contact the Child Care and Development Department by email at childdev@austincc.edu
