Explore careers in the music industry at ACC Open House

Austin Community College (ACC) invites prospective students and their families to learn about career and training opportunities in Music Business, Performance, and Technology (MBPT) 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Northridge Campus, Building 4000, Room 4150 (11928 Stonehollow Dr.).

“Austin has a unique music scene. The faculty and staff in our Department provide incredible insight and training,” says Tim Dittmar, department chair of MBPT. “Our students are ready for jobs in live sound, audio engineering, artist management, concert promotion, and songwriting. Additionally, our program provides valuable Internships and volunteer opportunities at local businesses and music festivals.”

Visitors will tour the college’s state-of-the-art recording studios, music production labs, and network with faculty and staff to discuss classes and careers.

According to local market data, there is nearly $34 million in funding for music technology companies. Employment in music composition is projected to increase approximately nine percent in the next four years and employment in agent and music management is expected to rise nearly 12 percent on average.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is recommended, but not required.
