ACC celebrates Fashion Incubator grand opening, 4/30

Austin Community College (ACC) celebrates the grand opening of the ACC Fashion Incubator 10 to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday April 30, at ACC Highland Campus, Building 4000 (6101 Highland Campus Dr.).

The innovative facility is a first of its kind in Central Texas and provides critically needed industry experience for students and state-of-the-art production space for start-up designers in Austin’s growing fashion industry.

“The Fashion Incubator is transforming how we meet the needs of our students and our local economy,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO. “We’re changing the way students learn by putting them side-by-side with industry experts, and connecting designers with the business guidance they need to build their brand. It takes collaboration to bring something like this to Austin.”

Developed in partnership with the City of Austin, the 7,500-square-foot facility offers designers access to advanced industry equipment. The incubator is outfitted with $13.1 million of Gerber Technology equipment and software to significantly reduce product development and production costs. Designers also receive:

  • Branded studio space
  • Business coaching
  • Networking opportunities
  • Product development support
  • Wholesale products and vendors

The local fashion industry generates $86 million in Austin. The Fashion Incubator is now accepting applications for designer-in-residence. Admission is juried by committee.

To join ACC for the grand opening, RSVP online. For more information about the Fashion Incubator, watch the video below or visit austincc.edu/fashionincubator.
