College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) allows students of any age to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college course content.

More than 2,900 colleges grant credit and/or advanced standing for CLEP exams, and earning credit through CLEP testing can shorten your path to a college degree. See a list of currently offered CLEP exams below.

Be sure to check with an advisor or counselor before taking any CLEP exam, or refer to the Austin Community College Catalog to ensure credit can be awarded. Non-ACC students should check with an advisor or counselor at the college they plan to attend to ensure credit can be awarded. ACC’s Business Assessment & Testing Center cannot advise or counsel students about CLEP scores or awarded credit.

Note: Score results may take four to six weeks for college composition or college composition modular. Visit the College Board CLEP website for additional information.

Taking a CLEP Test

ACC administers CLEP tests at the Highland Campus and Round Rock Campus, Monday through Thursday. You must make an appointment for your test at least one business day in advance. Appointments are limited, so please register early.

Each CLEP test has a proctoring fee and a test fee. The proctoring fee is $35 ($45 for the college composition modular for non-ACC students). You will pay the $35 proctor fee when you schedule your test. The fee must be paid online CLEP Proctor exam.

You will pay the $93 CLEP test fee when you register for your exam on CLEP website. The fee is payable with a major credit card only. A hard copy of the CLEP ticket must be presented at the time of your exam.
