If a full-time faculty member has been appointed by a Dean as an Instructional Department Chair, the appointment shall be subject to a retention election one year after the initial appointment. Such appointments shall be for two-year terms. If the full-time faculty member so appointed does not receive a 50% margin of support from those voting in the retention election, the leadership position shall be considered vacant with a requirement that a new faculty member be appointed. Each such appointed supervisor shall also be evaluated annually by the appointing Dean.
All departmental full-time faculty and adjunct faculty eligible to serve under Administrative Rule 4.06.009 may vote in any election involving supervising leadership over an instructional department.
